A powerful film about the Black Summer bushfires will be screened locally thanks to support from Frankston City Council.

The South East Environment Network (SEEN) and Frankston High School's Eco Team will host a free screening of Environment Victoria's film, Beyond the Burning, this month.

Through intimate personal stories, Beyond the Burning explores the terrible toll of this tragedy, the underlying causes of climate change and inspiring local solutions.

SEEN member Suzanne D’Ombrain-Allain said: “Come and mingle with other locals interested in action on climate change and environmental issues, share your ideas and learn about local initiatives or just quietly absorb the film! Refreshments will be provided and there will be various guest speakers.”

South Ward Cr Claire Harvey said: “Beyond the Burning is told in the authentic voices of East Gippsland residents and takes viewers through the tragedy of the 2019/20 fires and out the other side, towards a vision of a better future.

“I hope to see lots of community members at the screening of this important film,” she said.

The event was made possible thanks to an Environmental Sustainability Grant to SEEN from Frankston City Council.
