To help guide the City's growth and development, Council has prepared a draft Structure Plan for the Frankston Metropolitan Activity Centre (FMAC).

The draft plan builds on community feedback gathered during consultation that was undertaken during April and May 2022 on the Emerging Ideas Paper which tested a number of ideas with the community.

The draft FMAC Structure Plan sets out a framework to guide the development of our city centre over the next 20 years, providing clear direction on land uses, housing, built form, employment, streetscapes and open space, and movement and transport.

Frankston City Council is now calling on the community to help shape Frankston City’s future by providing their feedback on the draft plan.

Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said: “The draft FMAC Structure Plan includes your feedback. You spoke, and we listened. We heard your desire for change, interest in more events and concerns about car parking and building height."

Frankston's waterfront location, combined with existing transport, education, health, retail and recreational infrastructure, underpins the City's potential to facilitate not only its own economic growth, but also the broader Mornington Peninsula and surrounding residential areas.

“Frankston has an opportunity to become a major economic hub supporting the south-east growth corridor and broader metropolis,” said the Mayor.

“To achieve its full potential, Frankston needs to evolve into a more economically diverse, high-amenity and integrated city centre. And that’s what the FMAC Structure Plan outlines – a future vision for the City.”

“We’ve listened to your views on the future of Frankston, and we want to know if we have got it right. Have your say on the draft FMAC Structure Plan.”

“With your input, we can create a new vision for Frankston,” said the Mayor.
