Frankston City Council is seeking community feedback on Kananook Reserve as master planning on this important public open space begins.

With current plans to expand the Frankston Basketball Stadium, along with the Kananook Commuter Car Park, a master plan is required to ensure that the integrity of Kananook Reserve as a valued public greenspace is maintained. The master plan will look to address future and potential improvements across the site, with considerations given to access, connections, open space and the broader public realm of the precinct.

Mayor Nathan Conroy said Council was working closely with sporting clubs and community groups to draft the master plan to ensure the reserve continues to be a great place for people to meet, enjoy nature, exercise and play sport.

“Kananook Reserve is one of our destination reserves as identified in the Open Space Strategy and occupies a central location in this part of Seaford with a variety of uses and users. We have sporting clubs, workers on their lunch breaks, commuters walking through to the station, dog owners, a community garden as well as families who use the playground.

“We know Kananook Reserve is important to the community so we want to understand how you use it now and your vision for its future,” said the Mayor.

Consultation closes Monday 25 July 2022.

Following this initial round of community consultation, Council will develop a draft master plan for further public comment before the master plan is finalised.
