The FREE Men as Role Models online forum on 19 July will give attendees a sneak peek into Frankston City Council’s mentoring program.

AFL legend Josh P. Kennedy, who leads as Sydney Swans Co-Captain, will attend the event to speak to people interested in joining the program for boys as mentees (aged 15-24) and men as mentors (aged 25 years).

Mr Kennedy said: “I’ll never forget my own mentors who helped me grow and pointed me in the right direction. I also know the rewards of paying it forward as a mentor, which is why I support this program.”

Mayor Nathan Conroy said: “The program reflects local needs and will benefit all of Frankston by helping boys and men to be the best version of themselves and leaders of respect and gender equality in our community.”

Frankston City Council’s key project partners, Whitelion Youth and Jesuit Social Service’s The Men’s Project will present at the forum, discussing the importance of healthy male role models, benefits of mentoring as well as delivery of the program.

The forum will showcase the recreational activities which the mentees and mentors will enjoy. Frankston-based volunteer groups will offer the participants boating, fishing, woodworking and other fun events.

The program offers mentors full training and requires 2 hours per fortnight for a minimum period of 6 months.

The free online forum takes place on Zoom on 19 July, from 7 to 8.30pm, sign up on Eventbrite.

To participate in the program, fill out the form at Frankston City Council’s website.
