Do you know a Frankston City volunteer who deserves to be recognised for their outstanding contribution?

Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said nominations are now open for the 2022 Frankston City Volunteer Awards – run annually by Impact Volunteering.

“I encourage you to nominate a special volunteer who is doing great things in our community in one of five categories – Service, Leadership, Initiative, Youth and Teamwork.

“By nominating them you’ll be highlighting their great work and dedication as well as creating awareness of the fabulous community organisations out there,” the Mayor said.

Veteran Visitor Information Centre (VIC) volunteer, Roy, said: “I love Frankston. It’s got so much to offer. There’s so many pluses.”

Roy has volunteered at the Centre since it opened. He received Frankston City’s Senior Citizen of the Year Award on Australia Day in 2017 to honour and acknowledge his stellar contribution to tourism development.

Fellow volunteer, Ann, added she loves promoting Frankston and its many attractions with the VIC team.

Mayor Conroy added: “We have over 16,800 volunteers in Frankston City, who contribute more than 46,000 hours of their time each and every year to our community. It’s a remarkable contribution that is equal to $1.3 million worth of donated time annually.

“There are many groups and programs in the Frankston City community who rely on the time and skills of volunteers to do the work they do.

“From providing Meals on Wheels to helping out with a local sporting club, and even in keeping our local beaches free from rubbish – we rely on the work of our volunteers to keep the city running.”
