PLOS Musical Productions stages Chicago at Frankston Arts Centre

PLOS is all set to return to Frankston with the dazzling musical production of Chicago.

This satirical look at fame, justice, and the media machine in 1920s Chicago is based on real-life murders and trials.

Roxie Hart is a wannabe vaudevillian star who murders her lover and is arrested – despite her attempts to convince pushover husband, Amos, to lie for her. In the Cook County Jail, Roxie meets her hero, the famed double-murderess and nightclub performer Velma Kelly.

When both acquire the same lawyer, the greedy and lustful superstar, Billy Flynn, tensions come to a head as they vie for the spotlight. Neither woman will be outdone in their fight against each other and the public for fame and celebrity.

PLOS Musical Productions Secretary Brett Wingfield said the musical theatre group was excitedly looking forward to staging the show at Frankston Arts Centre, adding: “Chicago is a show PLOS has wanted to present to the audiences of Frankston Arts Centre for many years and to get to present it as the first show after COVID is great.”

Performer Rachel Rai said: “Being able to perform the role of Roxie Hart is a dream come true. Performing it after being off stage for a couple of years is absolutely wonderful.”

Fellow performer Nadia Gianinotti (Velma) added: “To be performing in front of an audience will be great. Velma is a role where you get to do so much, sing dance and act!”
