Frankston’s popular Sunset Twilight Markets are back with a variety of creators and makers, live music and food trucks set to bring life and colour to the picturesque Frankston foreshore.

Mayor Nathan Conroy said following a successful trial earlier this year Event Logistic Group will be revising the Sunset Twilight Markets for a full season from October to April, supported by Council’s Destination Event Attraction Program.

The markets will be held monthly on a Sunday afternoon/early evening starting on October 16.

Mayor Conroy said: “The Sunset Twilight Markets are more than just a market – they’re a family friendly event that encourages visitors to stroll the entire area, stay and experience the unique offerings.

“Curated stallholders selling art, clothing, homewares and more will be on offer. Some stallholders are regulars each month but there is always something new to be explored so you never know what you will find.

“A variety of street food will be serving a smorgasbord of cuisines that will tempt visitors to enjoy a snack or meal on the shady lawns overlooking the ocean.

“Due to the popularity of the trial series, the market site and experience will be expanded to include more entertainment, more stalls and more food and drink offerings,” the Mayor said.

Deputy Mayor Suzette Tayler added the markets will feature great entertainment with a changing itinerary each month showcasing up and coming musicians playing soul, blues, jazz, indie or well-known covers.

“No matter what your music style you are sure to find it offered. As the musicians change monthly so do the roaming performers who will mingle among the crowd.

“The line-up planned will include magicians, circus acts, comedians and a few special surprises sure to delight the entire family. And there will be face painting – always a winner for kids of all ages,” Deputy Mayor Tayler said.

Market operator, James Batty from Event Logistic Group said: “We are so excited to be supported by Council’s Destination Event Attraction Program to bring the Sunset Twilight Markets back to Frankston.

“This season will also include more involvement from local community groups and businesses, so it truly is an event for all. With such a spectacular location it will be wonderful to get on down, enjoy the weekend and make the most of this vibrant Frankston landmark.

“The Sunset Twilight Markets are going to be bigger and better, and we are so excited to start them again and continue with the enjoyment they bring,” Mr Batty said.

Mayor Conroy said: “The community told us that the trial markets transformed the waterfront from their local beach to a real holiday destination during the trial season.

“Supported by the Destination Event Attraction Program (DEAP), the markets will continue in 2022 and 2023 to attract both residents and visitors to our City, perfectly complementing our bayside destination experiences and adding to the City’s creative edge.”

The DEAP has been developed to encourage event organisers to recreate or relocate their events to Frankston City. Offering incentive grants, the program specifically looks for events which will elevate the destination, attract new audiences and support the City’s positioning as a creative events, arts and culture destination.
