Hot on the heels of an already packed events program including Waterfront Festival, Big Picture Fest, South Side Festival and more, Frankston City Council’s 2022 - 2023 Destination Event Attraction Program has attracted some big names to further seal Frankston City’s position as a major creative events destination.
Event organisers submitted applications for funding between March and May this year. After a diligent evaluation process, $135,000 in Council funding was allocated to four providers in Round 1 of the program, including Event Logistic Group, who after a successful trial in early 2022, will be bring back a full Sunset Twilight Market Series at the waterfront from October to April; Life Like Touring who will bring Disney Pixar characters to life with Pixar Putt on the waterfront from mid-December to the end of January; New Year’s Eve is set to be one to remember when Lucky Ent Pty Ltd bring their Lucky Day Out music festival at Kinetic Stadium and country music lovers will delight with two days of boot tapping tunes at the waterfront for Country by the Bay presented by Event People in March 2023.
The events are expected to attract 37,000 people to the City, create 22 jobs and contribute $4.8m to the local economy.
Deputy Mayor Suzette Tayler said: “The Destination Event Attraction Program has attracted four high calibre events to Frankston in Round 1, which will not only enhance local community pride and give our residents more reasons to enjoy their own backyard, but also to invite their friends and family to rediscover Frankston as the weather gets warmer.
“The successful events will showcase our City’s lifestyle and cultural assets to new audiences, support our positioning as a major hub for creative events, and significantly contribute to our local economy,” Deputy Mayor Tayler said.
Lucky Ent Director, Luke Udorovic, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing a major music festival to Frankston this New Year’s Eve. Lucky Day Out will present some of the world's biggest acts to the area during an exciting time of year. The region is a major cultural hub in Victoria and to be able to launch an event for locals and holiday-makers alike is a really exciting prospect.”
Event People Event Director, Scott Hollow, said: “I’m delighted to bring a country music festival with a massively talented line up to Frankston. The Frankston Waterfront is the perfect backdrop for this event to bring country music to the water.”
Mr Hollow also thanked Frankston City Council for their support in bringing this event alive as part of the overall event attraction program.
James Batty, from Event Logistic Group, said: “We are so excited to be supported by Council’s Destination Event Attraction Program to bring the Sunset Twilight Markets back to Frankston.
“The Sunset Twilight Markets are going to be bigger and better, and we are so excited to start them again and continue with the enjoyment they bring,” he said.
Managing Director TEG Experiences, Rachael Carroll, said: “Pixar Putt has had over 360,000 mini golfers putting to infinity and beyond since we launched in 2019 and we are thrilled to head to Frankston for the first time this December.
“We can’t wait to showcase this Aussie-fan favourite attraction which has recently won a new legion of international fans in New York, Texas and Chicago. When it came to finding a new location for Pixar Putt this December, Frankston Waterfront seemed the perfect spot.
