Community to help shape Council’s 2023-24 Budget
Published on 20 February 2023
Frankston City Council is handing over the reins to the community, asking residents to help prioritise key focus areas for inclusion in Council’s Budget for 2023-24.
Whether it’s getting back to nature, transport connectivity, business attraction, or something else, Council wants to know what’s most important to Frankston City residents to help guide future spending.
As part of the new process, Council is asking members of the community to allocate points to the below 12 budget focus areas:
- Community welfare
- Emergency preparedness
- Arts, culture and tourism
- Assisting our most vulnerable
- Getting back to nature
- Managing our waste
- Transport connectivity
- Open space management
- Business attraction
- Economic development
- Customer Experience
- Transparency in Council
Residents can also submit their own additional priority budget area, idea or aspiration.
Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said: “We’re excited to trial this new approach. By asking residents what’s most important to them, we can ensure a fair, transparent budget that benefits the whole of Frankston City and aligns with the thoughts and values of our community.”
“Our new budget will continue to provide essential services like roads, drainage and waste while also investing in new initiatives to help shape the future of Frankston City,” said Mayor Conroy.
Feedback gathered from the community will directly shape Frankston City Council’s new budget and guide the future direction of Council’s programs and services.
“I encourage you to get involved and tell us what is important to you. All feedback will be presented to Council for review, ensuring every voice in the community is heard.”
Council will share a Draft Budget for 2023-24 for further feedback in April 2023.
