PARC supports iconic World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser this March

PARC has hosted an event for the World’s Greatest Shave each year since 2018 – as they celebrate and honour past employee, Sam Newman, who sadly lost his battle to blood cancer in 2017.
Deagan Newman was just five when he tragically lost his dad Sam to cancer, and the brave boy will be back at PARC on 17 March to raise funds and awareness as he shaves his head for the cause.
“We want to be able to help other families,” Deagan said.
Peninsula Leisure CEO Kath Thom added: “We’re so proud of our ongoing commitment to the World’s Greatest Shave. Members of our team have experienced firsthand the impacts of blood cancer, so we love being able to offer our members, staff and the general public a chance to shave, colour or braid their hair. It’s a fun way to support this important cause.”
The World’s Greatest Shave raises money for the Leukaemia Foundation, the only national charity dedicated to helping more Australians with leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and related disorders survive their blood cancer and live their best life. Last year’s PARC event raised over $5,000 and this year the team hope to raise even more.
Ms Thom said: “We are encouraging new and old participants to come on down and join in the fun. If you aren’t up for changing your hair, simply come along for a delicious morning tea and be part of the atmosphere on the day.”
The World’s Greatest Shave will be held at PARC is on Friday 17 March, 10am – 12pm. Morning tea is available for a $10 donation, along with a raffle, sausage sizzle and entertainment. Qualified hairdressers will be on hand for shaving, colouring and braiding hair for donations:
- $30 to shave your head
- $10 to colour your hair
- $5 to braid your hair
“This event is open to the entire community. Be brave and shave – and help raise funds for the annual World’s Greatest Shave at PARC,” Ms. Thom said.
PARC is located at the corner of Cranbourne Road and Olive Grove, Frankston. For more information, please visit World's Greatest Shave at PARC or call 9781 8444.
