Frankston City Council is calling on the community to have their say on the future of housing in Frankston City, by providing feedback on the Frankston City Housing Strategy Discussion Paper.

Our City is on the cusp of change, beginning its transformation into a thriving hub of employment, investment and entertainment. These changes will bring commercial and residential growth in Frankston City, with an anticipated population growth of 20,000 people by 2036.

“It’s no secret that Frankston is set to become the vibrant capital of the south-east. With growing popularity and new opportunities comes an increased demand for housing. It’s estimated we will need an additional 9,000 new dwellings to accommodate our population growth over the coming years,” Frankston City Council Mayor Nathan Conroy said.

Council is inviting the community to help shape the future of housing in the municipality by providing feedback on the Frankston City Housing Strategy Discussion Paper.

The Discussion Paper outlines key issues and opportunities related to housing in Frankston City and seeks feedback from the community to guide the growth of housing and the look and feel of our neighbourhoods over the next 15 years.

“With residents having their say on our Frankston City Housing Strategy Discussion Paper, we can create a strategy that speaks to our diverse community, ensuring we can meet the needs of all residents in our City,” Mayor Conroy said.

“We want to create a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable Housing Strategy that meets the diverse needs of our residents. The Frankston City Housing Strategy Discussion Paper outlines where new houses should be located, the types of houses that can be built and how the neighbourhoods look and feel,” he said.

Mayor Nathan Conroy understands the importance and significance of neighbourhood character to our residents: “We want to ensure that our neighbourhoods remain unique and reflective of the people who live there. The Housing Strategy will enhance the character elements of each area and provide a range of housing options for all.”

Mayor Conroy has urged community members to take part in the engagement process by visiting Engage Frankston and completing the survey by 5pm, Sunday 3 September. “All feedback received during the community engagement period will be reviewed and considered in the development of the Housing Strategy,” he said.

“Together, we can shape the future of our community and ensure that Frankston City is equipped to meet the needs of its diverse residents.”
