Destination Event Attraction Program set to boost local economy
Published on 14 March 2024
Applications are now open for Frankston City Council’s 2024-2025 Destination Event Attraction Program (DEAP), which continues to build the city’s reputation as one of Melbourne’s premier arts, culture, and tourism places to visit.
Now in its third year, the program offers financial and in-kind support to organisations to deliver high quality festivals and events that provide remarkable visitor experiences, local engagement and build upon the City’s positioning as a creative destination.
This year’s program is expected to inject almost $1.6 million into the local economy (REMPLAN Economy).
Events made possible through the DEAP program to date have included the Twilight Market Series, the Lucky Day Out New Year’s Eve event, Pixar Putt and the Reminisce dance event.
North-East Ward Cr Suzette Tayler said: “We’re excited to offer the Destination Event Attraction Program for a third year. Frankston is already known as a creative centre in Melbourne, but this initiative boosts our reputation as an arts, culture, and tourism destination even further. Better events mean more visitors, creating more jobs and a stronger local economy.”
The program supports events across three tiers, from significant commercial events to major community events. It seeks applications from event organisers that can deliver creative events which will showcase the City's lifestyle and cultural assets, embrace and build upon the City's creative arts culture, and drive economic and branding benefits to the local economy.
Stage one applications for the 2024/25 round of the DEAP close on Friday, 5 April 2024. For more information visit Destination Event Attraction Program - Frankston City Council.
