Frankston City residents can now have their say on Council's Draft Budget 2024-2025 following its adoption at the 22 April Council Meeting.
Frankston City Mayor Nathan Conroy said the budget, which represents the fourth and final year under the 2021-2025 Council Plan, continued to support Frankston City’s transformation, while ensuring the ongoing delivery of essential community services.
"Building and enhancing our city while meeting vital community needs is at the heart of this Budget. From investment in early years infrastructure to boosting our local economy, it’s a budget that supports Frankston’s transformation as the best place to live, work and play in Australia,” he said.
Council’s annual budget funds important services including roads, parks, waste and recycling, economic development, arts and events, aged services, early education and libraries.
Budget highlights for 2024-25 include the redevelopment of Langwarrin and Seaford Child and Family Centres, the redevelopment of Langwarrin Skate Park, expanded graffiti management programs, and increased investment in business support.
The upcoming financial year will also see the completion of a number of major construction projects, including the Eric Bell and Lloyd Park pavilions and the Kananook Commuter Car Park.
Frankston City Council CEO Phil Cantillon said the budget continued to deliver on the commitments in Council’s four-year plan, but also reflected the economic environment faced by local government across Victoria.
“Councillors have worked together to ensure delivery of the projects and services our community expects, at the same time maintaining a financially sustainable position in the face of continued economic pressures,” he said.
Prior to the Budget being drafted, the community was consulted on what was important – key feedback included community safety, economic development and environmental programs.
The budget earmarks almost half a million dollars in business grants, more than $600,000 in graffiti management with a focus on high profile locations, and $400,000 on protection of iconic Frankston and Seaford coastal and marine areas.
“Community feedback is vital in helping Council make decisions about where to invest resources over the year ahead,” said Mayor Conroy. I encourage the community to review our draft budget and submit your thoughts on the priorities we’ve laid out for the next financial year.”
The Draft Budget 2024-2025 is available for review at Engage Frankston. Community members can submit their feedback online, and/or also request to make a verbal submission to Council on the Draft Budget 2024-2025 by 4pm 22 May 2024 (for the Council meeting at 7pm).
