This week, I stand with the Frankston City community and many others in feeling shocked and deeply saddened by the death of Cranbourne North local Mr Andres Pancha.

I offer my heartfelt condolences to Andres’ family and friends as they are faced with the profound grief of this distressing situation.

Andres was doing something he and many others love – fishing off Frankston Pier. Unfortunately, an unprovoked and random incident has taken Andres away from his beautiful children and loving wife.

I have received a number of phone calls over the weekend from concerned residents, worried about the safety of their local community.

This is not the Frankston City that I, and many others, know and love. This is not the sentiment that I want people to think of when they think of Frankston City.

Like many communities across Victoria, incidents of crime are a serious concern. I want to assure everyone that we will continue to work with the State Government and Victoria Police to ensure we continue to live in a vibrant and welcoming community. We are a well-knit, proud and compassionate community that are here for each other regardless of the circumstances.

I have found it heartwarming to see our community showing their support and compassion for this family and everyone impacted by this tragedy. I know this support will continue in the days and weeks ahead.
