Repurposing the Nepean Highway roadside parklets – EOI now open
Published on 27 May 2024
Frankston City Council is offering community groups the chance to repurpose roadside parklet furniture recently removed from Nepean Highway.
The parklets, which were installed to support businesses through COVID 19 restrictions and funded by the Victorian Government, were last week removed and transported to the Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre (FRRRC), where they will be offered free of charge to local community groups via an online expressions of interest (EOI) process.
The removal of the parklets is part of a package of early works in Council’s long-term vision to transform the Nepean Highway into a safe, attractive and vibrant Boulevard.
Other works starting soon include new median planting, public lighting improvements at Mile Bridge and through the City Centre median, new gateway entry signage and public art installation.
EOI Applications for the parklet furniture open today and run until 5.00pm on 7 June 2024. All applicants will be notified of the outcome as well as collection dates and times, no later than 21 June 2024.
