If you are seeking compensation for loss or damage from an incident, which you believe has been caused by negligence, Council will investigate the circumstances of the incident to establish whether or not Council has any legal liability. 

All claims are assessed on prevailing legal frameworks.

Before proceeding with your claim, please check that Council is the responsible road authority and the correct agency to assess your claim.

Council is not the only body that is responsible for the maintenance and repair of the road network.

  • supporting photographs of location of incident with markings
  • sketch of location
  • witness details (if applicable)
  • evidence supporting your claim

Council will endeavor to finalise your claim as soon as possible; however, the investigation process can take up to 12 weeks to complete and finalise. Council appreciates your patience during this time and will contact you if further information is required.

If you are unable to apply online, please complete this application form, print and return with any required supporting documentation to Council via one of the other methods detailed on this page.
