What goes in my general waste bin?
What can be accepted
- biodegradable, degradable and compostable plastic packaging, plates and cutlery
- broken ceramics, glass cookware and drinking glasses
- cigarette butts
- food waste (if you don't already have a food and garden waste bin)
- kitty litter and animal waste
- nappies (bagged)
- polystyrene
- soft scrunchable plastic packaging such as plastic bags, bread bags and plastic wrap
- takeaway coffee cups
- vacuum dust (bagged).
What cannot be accepted
- recyclables (these can go in your kerbside mixed recycling bin)
- glass bottles and jars
- garden waste
- hazardous chemicals, oil, liquids or paint
- hot ashes or flammable materials
- medical or infectious waste such as syringes or needles
- building materials or trade waste
- items that prevents the bin lid from completely closing.
