Recycling Stations Program
Do you have any old batteries, mobile phones, light globes, CDs, DVDs, and X-rays lying around at home that you don’t know what to do with or where to take them?
Dispose of them for free by taking them to any one of Frankston’s community recycling stations.
Recycling stations allow residents to safely dispose of household items that are not allowed in the kerbside garbage (red lid), recycling (yellow lid), glass (purple lid), and food and garden waste (green lid) bins.
If the wrong items are placed in any of the kerbside bins they can contribute to the contamination of recyclable materials, or even cause bin and truck fires. This poses a significant health and safety risk to our community, waste collectors and processors.
Let’s work together in keeping these materials out of landfill and give them a new life. It is best to dispose of them safely and correctly.

What happens to the items?
Recycling Station
Items will be collected by Green Collect; a Melbourne based social enterprise focused on creating a world without waste.
They are contracted by Frankston City Council to collect from the recycling stations, providing reuse and recycling outcomes for the items deposited by Frankston City Council residents.
Items are taken to the Green Collect facility in Braybook to start their transformation journey. Green Collect are dedicated to keeping these items out of landfill and within the circular economy through reuse, remake, and recycle. 60% of items get re-used and 35% of items are dismantled into materials for recycling.
Eyeglasses and contact lenses are collected by Opticycle and taken to their facility in Burwood. When eyeglasses are recycled, they are dismantled, and materials such as metal and plastic are separated. These materials are passed on to local Australian companies as raw material to make new products.
Protect your privacy!

As part of the preparation for reuse, electrical items will be reformatted however to protect your privacy it’s important to wipe this information before disposal. Every item is different, so check with the item’s manufacturer to ensure you know the best way to securely wipe all data. You are responsible for removing all private data from your device before dropping it off.
