Fletcher Road Revitalisation
Artist: Phin Murphy from Sinatra Murphy & Andrew Hogg Design
The Fletcher Road gateway precinct was completed as of late 2022. We are providing a welcoming entrance to the Frankston Municipal Activity Centre (FMAC) for train commuters, drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
The program includes traffic, streetscape improvements in the precinct and projects to improve community safety and attract more people to Frankston’s city centre.
What’s happening?
As part of Council’s City Centre Greening Program, significant landscape improvements have been completed at the Fletcher Road Overpass Reserve on the north and south sides of the Fletcher Road overpass, including significant landscaping and greening to enhance Frankston’s urban forest and biodiversity.
Council and the Victorian Government jointly fund the works.
The Fletcher Road/Dandenong Road West roundabout has also been transformed with extensive new planting.
- The Fletcher Road Underpass Integrated Public Art and Lighting Installation (Scale)
Scale, an integrated public art and lighting installation, is being installed on the Fletcher Road overpass abutments. The Victorian Government fully funds the project through the Department of Suburban Development.
The installation illustrates the epic migration of the Short-finned Eel, migrating 3,000 kilometres from Kananook Creek to the Coral Sea and acknowledges Frankston’s geographic, historical and cultural connection to waterways. Completed as of late 2022.
