Fairway Street Shopping Strip Upgrade

  • Project typeConstruction
  • Project scheduleWorks are now completed

Located on the corner of Orwil and Fairway Streets in Frankston North, the works aim to support the revitalisation of the area that’s been underway due to its proximity to Frankston Station, level crossing project improvements and the beach, and investment by Council in surrounding open space, including nearby Orwil Reserve which received a new play space in December 2022.

The concept design for the shopping strip has been designed in consultation with the local business community and will include:

  • Footpath resurfacing
  • Improved parking conditions (to 90 degrees)
  • New seats and benches
  • Tree and garden bed planting
  • Provision for future outdoor dining opportunities

Once complete, the condition of the shopping strip is expected to better reflect the improvements and positive change that is currently taking place in this neighbourhood.

Work is expected to begin June 2024.

This is one of several shopping strip upgrades endorsed by Council in the Frankston Local Shopping Strip Action Plan.  The action plan was developed to guide the development of the public realm and streetscape environment of Frankston City’s local shopping strips over the next 10-15 years.

The Action Plan provides the vision and framework for the local shopping strip streetscapes in Frankston and addresses issues and challenges.

The Fairway Street local shopping strip has been identified as a priority in the plan.
