Skye Road intersection upgrade, Frankston

  • Project scheduleLate April – August 2025

We’re upgrading Skye Road, Frankston, where it intersects with Onkara Street and Carramar Drive, to improve pedestrian and road user safety.

The project is in response to community concerns about safety at the intersection, which is close to Karingal Heights Primary School.

Works will be undertaken from late April (just after Easter) and are expected to be completed by August.

What’s happening:

  • New splitter islands defining through and turning lanes
  • Adding a slip lane from Skye Road to Carramar Drive including a new raised pedestrian crossing
  • Relocating the existing school crossing to a new pedestrian refuge island on Skye Road
  • Asphalt resurfacing and pavement marking
  • Public lighting improvements
  • Landscaping

The landscaping on each corner at Carramar Drive will be completed after the civil works.

The plants, which are mostly native, were specially selected by our landscaping experts. They’re also low maintenance and won’t impact driver visibility as they grow.

The project is fully funded by Council.

Community notification:

The local community will be advised of the works via a letterbox drop to surrounding properties, including the school.

VMS boards will also be in place at least 10 days before the work starts and during construction.
