Apply for a signage permit

You may need a permit to display signage at a business. This includes in residential zones or a home-based business.

The size and type of the sign, as well as the zone you plan to display the sign in, will determine whether you need a permit. 

We prefer you submit your application online. If you do not want to apply online, you can lodge your application by email or in person.

Online

Step 1.Prepare your application

Your application must include:

  • A complete copy of the Certificate of Title that is no older than 3 months, including any restrictions such as a Section 173 Agreement. You can obtain a Certificate of Title from the Landata website.
  • Plans detailing how the sign will be displayed including dimensions, graphics, illumination and how the sign will be erected. The plans must be drawn to scale.
  • A site plan detailing the proposed location of the sign, as well as any other signs you have on the premises.
  • A credit or debit card to pay the relevant fee. This fee is for the lodgement of your application and does not include the cost of giving notice of your application, if required. Note: we are unable to accept an Amex or Diners card online.
