Apply for an asset protection bond refund

You can apply to have your asset protection bond refunded when building work is complete.

We prefer you submit your application online. If you are unable to apply online, you can submit your application by email, mail or in person.

Online

Step 1.Prepare your application

Your application must include:

  • your contact details (the bond will only be refunded to the person who made the original payment).
  • a copy of the Certificate of Completion, Certificate of Final Inspection or Certificate of Occupancy (If you cannot provide a certificate of occupancy, a letter on company letterhead confirming the completion of the works will be acceptable).
  • address of the building site.
  • bank details for the refund.

Step 3.What happens next?

If there is no damage to Council assets, your bond will be refunded in full within 28 days.

A Council Officer will conduct a final inspection outside your building site to determine if there has been any damage to Council assets. If there has been damage, you will be responsible for the repairs. You will receive a letter outlining: 

  • details of the damage
  • options for repair
  • timeframe in which repairs are to be made.

Once you have repaired any damages, a Council Officer will reinspect the site and if sufficient, your bond will be refunded.
