Apply for an asset protection permit

An asset protection permit ensures public assets such as footpaths, driveways and nature strips are kept safe during building work.

If your project is likely to impact public infrastructure, then you will need to apply for an asset protection permit in addition to a building permit. This may include:

Step 1.Prepare your application

Your application must include:

  • your contact details
  • property address
  • details of proposed works
  • the estimated value of works
  • a credit or debit card to pay the fee. Note: we are unable to accept an Amex or Diners card online.

Step 2.Submit your application

Step 3.What happens next?

We will process your application within 7 business days. Building work (including the delivery of materials and equipment) must not commence until your permit has been issued.

We will issue an invoice if a higher asset protection bond is required. This is usually required for commercial, large-scale and multi-lot subdivision projects. This will need to be paid before the permit can be issued.

You can apply for a refund of the asset protection bond when works are complete.
