Pedestrian and cycle network

Frankston's pedestrian footpath network spans 24 neighbourhoods and is 966km in length.

An annual budget of $700,000 is allocated to the maintenance of footpaths. Every 2 years, the 966km pedestrian footpath network undergoes an inspection to check if repair works are needed. Inspectors create the maintenance plan based on tolerable defect levels, so that the most important hazards are completed first. Priority for pathways maintenance is shopping centres, bus routes and schools. These priorities also are applied to the cycleway network.

On average, Council budgets $2.5 million per annum to the maintenance and renewal of the pedestrian and cycle network.
