Local Park Action Plan
Council is committed to creating beautiful, functional, and accessible green open spaces that are valued by the community.
Our Local Park Action 2021 plan identifies 28 park upgrades that will:
- Better connect communities
- Improve ecological and biodiversity values
- Enhance tree canopy planting
- Provide better integrated, accessible, and inclusive green spaces for everyone to enjoy
And much more.
Park upgrades in 2024
In the first half of 2024, three local parks will be upgraded
Nodding Reserve, Frankton North
- New native garden beds with mass planting of Lomandra, Correa, Poa and Chrysocephalum. These plants were chosen from the native palette for their proven performance and hardiness while fitting nicely with the surrounding environment.
- A new seating node will be installed off the path for locals to sit, ponder and enjoy the new surrounds.
- About 24 new trees will be planted - a mix of native and exotic trees (Eucalyptus and Gleditsia) to provide year-round interest in keeping with the existing mixed palette in this reserve.
Whitewood Reserve, Frankston North
- New native garden beds with mass planting of Lomandra, Correa, Poa and Chrysocephalum. These plants were chosen from the native palette for their proven performance and hardiness while fitting nicely with the surrounding environment.
- A new seating node will be installed off the path for locals to sit, ponder and enjoy the new surrounds, while also taking advantage of the vistas created by the site’s natural elevation.
- About 22 new native trees will be planted (Tristoniopsis, Allocasuarina and Eucalyptus), in keeping with the existing palette in this reserve.
Regency Reserve, Carrum Downs
- New native garden beds with mass planting of Lomandra, Poa and Chrysocephalum. These plants were chosen from the native palette for their proven performance and hardiness while fitting nicely with the surrounding environment.
- New seating nodes will be installed off the path for locals to sit, ponder and enjoy the new surrounds.
- A mix of about 55 native and exotic trees will be planted (Allocasuarina, Tristoniopsis, Callistemon and Acers) in keeping with the existing mixed palette in this reserve.
- Some concrete path repairs and minor realignment will also be undertaken.
Carrum Bella Reserve
- New native garden beds with mass planting of Lomandra, Correa, Poa and Chrysocephalum. These plants were chosen from the native palette for their proven performance and hardiness while fitting nicely with the surrounding environment.
- A new seating node will be installed off the path for locals to sit, ponder and enjoy the new surrounds.
- New native tree planting will be installed keeping with the existing native palette in this reserve. Approximately 14 new trees are proposed for this site.
