Dementia Friendly Workshop: It Starts with You

dementiafriendly.jpeg

Over 65% of people with a diagnosis of dementia live out in the community. Yet there is still a stigma associated with this condition.

This workshop, presented by Dementia Australia and supported by the Lyrebird Community Centre in Carrum Downs, aims to build a baseline awareness of dementia while at the same time break down the stereotypes surrounding it. It will provide examples of actions (both small and large) that have already been implemented in communities around Australia to be more supportive and inclusive of people living with dementia and will invite participants to suggest concrete actions they can take, either individually or as part of a local community alliance, to improve the quality of life of those living with dementia in the Frankston area.

Those attending will become 'dementia friends' and will receive a badge to this effect. If we make it right for people with dementia, we make it right for everybody - It starts with you!
