Launched just over two months ago, early usage statistics indicate the Neuron Mobility pedal-assisted e-bikes are off to a flying start in Frankston.

Over 9,000 users have signed up to the Neuron app in Frankston with over 10,500 total trips so far and an average trip rating of 4.4 out of 5.

Mayor Nathan Conroy said the early figures were encouraging.

“This is a twelve month trial to encourage active and sustainable forms of transport around the City of Frankston,

“We’re working closely with the operator Neuron to track usage and I’m pleased to see a strong initial take up in Frankston.

“Neuron are looking closely at the usage data to ensure they continue to place bikes where they will be used most and we are working with their team to ensure the bikes are well presented and the streets of Frankston are kept looking neat and presentable.”

Neuron have described the start of the trial in Frankston as ‘amazingly busy’ with more than 7,000 trips completed in the first month.

“Usage trends stabilise after a month when consistent travel patterns are formed,” explained the Mayor.

“Weekends are our peak periods with Saturdays the busiest day in Frankston and our most popular pick up points are the Visitors Information Centre on Frankston’s foreshore, Strike Bowling on Wells Street and the Frankston Railway Station.”

State Member for Frankston, Paul Edbrooke said:

“These are encouraging early numbers and I’m pleased to see people giving the e-bikes a go.

“It’s great to see such strong take up around the Visitors Information Centre and Frankston Station, which indicates people are keen to use more active modes of transport to make those shorter, connecting trips around town and to explore Frankston’s foreshore.”

The e-bike trial is part of the Frankston City Council Plan to promote healthy, active, clean, green, outdoor living for all ages and abilities.

The trial launched on 21 January this year with 150 pedal-assisted e-bikes located around the suburbs of Frankston City including Seaford, Frankston North, Karingal, Frankston foreshore and Frankston South, including outside Peninsula Health, Monash University Peninsula Campus and the Frankston Visitor Information Centre.
